Standard Treatment Length: Ten to sixteen 60-90 minute sessions
The goal of ACT is to drop the struggle with thoughts and feelings so you can live a more fulfilling, value-based life. ACT can be used to treat PTSD, chronic pain, anxiety and depression among other conditions. Throughout this treatment, you will learn tools to help you reduce avoidance and attempts to control thoughts and emotions. Avoiding and trying to control our thoughts and emotions is exhausting and contributes to pain and suffering in the long term.
You will gain tools to help you step back from your thoughts and emotions so you can see them for what they are, thoughts and emotions rather than facts, which will lessen the impact they have on you. Additionally, you will learn to be present in the moment as well as accept yourself and your internal experiences. Finally, you will identify your values, or the things that matter most to you, and learn to act in ways that are guided by your values to build a more fulfilling life.
